Virtual XI World Tour var Iron Maidens tolfte turné och den andra och sista med sångaren Blaze Bayley. Turnén började i Europa i slutet på april 1998 i Europa fortsatte till Nordamerika och tillbaka till Europa. Det hela avslutades i december i Sydamerika efter att man spelat i Japan. Som förra turnén så spelade Iron Maiden som oftast till mindre publik än tidigare år, speciellt i USA. I juli måste man ha en längre paus p.g.a. Blaze Bayleys pollenallergi och mer än hälften av de inplanerade spelningarna i USA ställs in. Under en spelning i Söndagsöppet så ersattes Janick Gers pga sjukdom av en basist från bandet Dirty Deeds. Detta ledde till att de en sångare, en trummis, en gitarrist och två basister i bandet! Detta var dock bara menat som en prvocorisk lösning för syns skull.

Någon månad efter turnéavslutandet tillkännagavs det att Bayley var avskedad och att Bruce Dickinson och Adrian Smith var tillbaka till bandet.
