Instruktioner på svenska finns på Rilpedia:Robotar.

This is the page where you ask for permission to run a bot on Swedish Wikipedia. Please observe:

  • Create a separate user account for your bot. We recommend that the name of your bot includes the word "bot" or other variations.
  • The template

is required on the bot's user page.

  • The user page of the bot should include a description of the tasks it is doing.
  • Global bots are enabled on svwiki. If you intend to run an iw-bot, consider applying for global bot status instead at meta.

Post your entries at the top of the "New requests" section below and tell us what kind of bot it is (pywikipedia? your own construction?) and exactly what it will do. If your bot is an ordinary pywikipedia interwiki bot, you may start test-run immediately. If your bot is of another construction or is going to do something more complex, then wait a couple of days, if no one opposes, you can test-run your bot so the users at svwiki can see it in action. Either way, make sure at least one user who have seen your bot at work signs that they accept your bot. When the bot has been accepted it may get a bot flag from one of our bureaucrats.

Bots without a bot flag should wait at least 30 seconds between edits. Bots with a bot flag should wait about 10 seconds between edits. Administrators are encouraged to block bots that are harmful, run too fast or do somehing else than described in the application to run it.

Instruktioner / Instructions

Innocent bot

  • Diskussion:

-- Lavallen 1 juni 2009 kl. 09.42 (CEST)

D'ohBot

  1. Interwiki,
  2. fixing wiki syntax, for example, incorrect square brackets. I'm going to do this using pywikipedia.
    python replace.py -fix:syntax -file:...

  3. unambiguously uncontroversial edits like this I've made in en-wiki.
  • Discussion:

Should interwiki bots also do a lot of other things? I think it will be harder to review bots if they mostly do interwiki links, but sometimes do other things. I noticed another iw-bot recently that makes lots of other changes unrelated to interwiki links. For example separating the defaultsorts from the categories by a blank line and moving Mall:LinkFA before the categories instead of before the interwiki-links. And who decides what is uncontroversial edits? For image replacements like in the given example we already have CommonsDelinker, which specifically has no bot flag. Is this the same kind of replacements? If so, why do we need another bot to do that? If not, are such replacements so many that we need a bot to do them? /90.229.132.159 26 maj 2009 kl. 23.27 (CEST)

All you mention here ("moving Mall:Mall:LinkFA" and separeting the defaultsorts from categories by a blank line") are doing in cosmetic_changes.py. By defalt, costemic changes is switched off

(See user-config.py:

cosmetic_changes = False

# If cosmetic changes are switched on, and you also have several accounts at
# projects where you're not familiar with the local conventions, you probably
# only want the bot to do cosmetic changes on your "home" wiki which you
# specified in config.mylang and config.family.
# If you want the bot to also do cosmetic changes when editing a page on a
# foreign wiki, set cosmetic_changes_mylang_only to False, but be careful!
cosmetic_changes_mylang_only = True

I have the following settings in my user-config.py

mylang = 'ru'
cosmetic_changes_mylang_only = True

It means that I don't make cosmetic changes here (in sv-wiki) -- NO inserting of blank lines and NO moving of LinkFA-template

Mainly, I need bot-flag for interwiki purpose. --Dnikitin 27 maj 2009 kl. 03.42 (CEST)

I mentioned items 2) and 3) in my Function summary just to warn that I likely will do some small uncontroversial changes. --Dnikitin 27 maj 2009 kl. 03.51 (CEST)
I don't see a problem with iw-bots doing other stuff as well, as long as they are mentioned in the application (as was done in this case). Go ahead and do ~50 edits and we will evaluate you bot's edits. MiCkE 27 maj 2009 kl. 11.41 (CEST)

MauritsBot

  • Bot's name: MauritsBot (diskussionbidragloggar frånloggar omglobalt kontohantera rättigheter)
  • Bot master: Maurits 21 maj 2009 kl. 12.11 (CEST)
  • Bot status in other wikimedia projects/language versions: nl, de, fr, it, es, en, pt, lb, da, sl, la.
  • Bot framework: pywikipedia
  • Function summary: Interwiki and cosmetic changes (the latter only in combination with the first). The bot starts from nl and from several smaller wiki's (e.g. nds-nl, fy, la, etc.).
  • Discussion:

Please start test run (around 50 edits). What cosmetic changes Does the interwiki.py script make, besides the interwiki link stuff? --MagnusA 21 maj 2009 kl. 14.48 (CEST)

BTW: Have you considered applying for global bot status? --MagnusA 21 maj 2009 kl. 14.53 (CEST)

The script makes the following extra changes:

  • standardize categories
  • cleanup links (for example: linkname becomes linkname and pagetitle becomes pagetitle)
  • cleanup section headers (for example: ==Title== becomes == Title ==)
  • translate and capitalize namespaces (for example: Kategori:title becomes Kategori:Title and Kategori:title becomes Kategori:Title)
  • remove deprecated templates (if there are any)
  • resolve html-entities (translate &code; into it's proper understandable form)
  • valid Xhtml (for example, change <br> tot <br />)
  • remove useless spaces
  • hyphenate ISBN numbers

I have considered applying for global bot status, but the application of cosmetic changes is not listed there as an accepted option, so I'm not sure if I should. Indeed, it would be a lot easier though... I have started the test run. Kind regards, --Maurits 21 maj 2009 kl. 20.36 (CEST)
