Rilpedia is an encyclopedia with both native Rilpedia articles and concepts and also articles from other external sources (most external articles are imported from Wikipedia).
+
-

+
-
The articles of Rilpedia are edited by elect persons under supervision by subject editors. A majority of the external articles are updated automatically and periodically to the latest version from the external source. Some Rilpedia articles are in whole or in part corrected and completed and "locked" in order to prevent automatic update from the external source. Locked "Rilpedia articles" are marked in the upper page header in order to distinguish them from unchanged external articles. Pages with different sources look different in the upper bar which also has information about and a link to the source (see illustrated examples below on this page).
+
-

+
-
Collaborators can chose to contribute and make edits under anonymous user names but all collaborators real names are known by the editorial staff at Rilpedia.

About this page
+
-

+
-
This page shall summarize all the essentials about purpose and the basic guidelines for Rilpedia for both readers and collaborators. Rilpedia don't want too many complicated guidelines and this page will contain the all-embracing policies which apply for Rilpedia. If any other text in the database indicates otherwise than this page clearly states then the text on this page has precedence. This is something which we need to explicitly point out since a number of imported articles may give a different impression (since not all irrelevant articles has yet been purged).
+
-

+
-
Openness at Rilpedia
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia wants openness and strives for instructive talk about the contents of the articles and therefore we have public discussion forums for active readers and also for the daily editorial work (it's part of learning to talk about and to formulate oneself about a topic). Readers can criticize and contribute to the article content through posting messages at the forums even if the actual edit work is performed only by trusted editors.
+
-

+
-
One of the forums is more dedicated for "opinions" while other forums are meant to be used as tools in the daily editorial work (the editorial staff is geographically spread). We intend to keep both kinds of forums open for the public.
+
-
At the work forums we will however practice lower tolerance for irrelevant posts since irrelevant posts can disturb the work process. One could say that "Very Simple Rules" applies for the moderators of the work forums. Posts which are deemed misplaced there are simply deleted (we don't have the time to get involved in opinion debates there). For this reason there are dedicated forums for sharing your thoughts and personal opinions.
+
-

+
-
There are also forums dedicated for school students where they can get guidance and answers about different school subjects from dedicated school mentors.

Purpose with Rilpedia
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia aims to gather all the good work and encourages taking responsibility for new generations and giving them access to a broad assortment of sound knowledge thereby supporting them to build up at sound world view, a sound view on fellowmen and a sound view of man and his origins.
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia intend to be a hub and a source of information completed with content especially suited for school teaching and facilitating for individual studies.
+
-

+
-
The mission of the editor’s office is to add, scrutinize, correct and/or complete articles with such facts which often is left out of other encyclopedias by editors directed by one-sided religious materialistic or naturalistic views. When objective reality stand in obvious conflict with religious beliefs in science then the reality should be given precedence.
+
-

+
-
At Rilpedia we do appreciate the Wikipedia project very much. The major part of the articles in Rilpedia also comes from there. At the same time we think that there's much in the imported material which is missing or can be improved. For instance, the editorial office at Rilpedia accepts the Bible as a historic source and Rilpedia encourages covering in articles also such facts and observation which supports the historical accounts of the Bible and its world view. The editorial office of Rilpedia does not exclude beforehand (á priori) any facts only because certain facts directly or indirectly supports something mentioned in the Bible (of course not). The Bible can also be viewed as the most important historical document of the western world and we willingly discuss the reliability of the Bible, when such discussions are based on serious examination, research and derivations.
+
-

+
-
Extents
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia wants to facilitate for new generations to find facts within all areas of knowledge and also such which is related to classical Biblical Christian doctrine. Facts are facts regardless of the point of view from which interpretations are made. Rilpedia aims to in a new and more all-covering and unique way compile and illuminate to modern man also subjects mentioned in the clear text of the Bible.
+
-

+
-
Links and relations between encyclopeadic articles and relevant bible verses are primarily established through verse comments which in turn can contain links to articles. Articles can link directly to individual bible verses or chapters deemed relevant to the subject or for providing food for thought.
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia - responsibility and guidance for the young
+
-

+
-
It is the duty of the editorial office at Rilpedia to take particular responsibility for the young by keeping the encyclopedia clear of morally unsuitable articles, for example such which encourages a decadent life style.
+
-

+
-
All articles have a link to a forum where readers can report unsuitable articles (such articles can show up through import but once added to a skip list they should not show up twice). It is possible to automagically skip individual article titles as well as entire named categories.
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia school mentors
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia will engage appointed (school) mentors (recruited amongst university students) to assist younger students via our discussion forums. Students are encouraged to ask questions at dedicated Rilpedia forums where the older university students can help by explaining and answering questions.
+
-

+
-
Observe that Rilpedia school mentors always can be identified through special marking of their user pages at Rilpedia.
+
-
: (Important - At Rilpedia no outsiders can edit content, not even user's own user pages. Only editorial staff can visibly mark user pages with the special appointment mark for mentors. By checking the user page for a particular user name being used at Rilpedia forums anyone can ensure that a user truly is an appointed mentor. In this way we provide a way to ensure that no unsuitable persons establish contact with young students at Rilpedia’s discussion forums).
+
-

+
-
Contact us if you are interested in helping younger students at Rilpedia as an "accredited" school mentor! (See separate article with guide lines for Rilpedia school mentors, we will have to meet up with you in person, or knowing the person you refer to before any appointment is possible).

Rilpedia - a meeting-point
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia also has an explicit ambition to connect and to compare compiled knowledge of our time with relevant biblical passages (thence the integrated Bible). This integration of available modern facts and biblical texts is a gigantic project in itself, which probably will create expectations both amongst devoted bible believers and amongst the sharpest critics of the Bible!
+
-

+
-
Articles with facts which elucidate classical biblical Christian faith and its influence on the western culture are encouraged. At Rilpedia we value all the good work, thus we also value objective and well worked-out articles by editors which knows biblical Christian faith from the point of own experience and conviction.
+
-

+
-
Nuanced Christian apologists shall perceive them self especially welcome to contribute with both new material and improvements of existing articles with all subject fields, and to compile the links between the encyclopedic articles and bible verse. And to write short sententious verse comments for our integrated bible.
+
-

+
-
Our discussion groups are open for the public. By posting in the appropriate forums also the public can contribute by suggesting new content and to lodge constructive criticism about existing content.
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia - a common knowledge hub
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia is an encyclopedia where many-sided elucidation and comprehensive articles on particular subjects fits best. Not everything can be covered though and therefore a selection must be done. Source material will probably fit the best at other external sites (or at rilsource.org for those having interesting material but which lacks the skills to publish on the internet).
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia - Win-win through participation
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia aims to be a non denominational natural central place for integration and co-ordination of resources from different freestanding organizations and subject experts within different subject fields.
+
-

+
-
We encourage subject experts to contribute and we explicitly suggest that they back-link from reference sections in Rilpedia-articles to serious source material on their own or other web sites. Contributors having their own valuable source material can in this way help Rilpedia users find their material making it available to a wider audience, which is a win-win situation for all.
+
-

+
-
In this way Rilpedia can integrate resources from different areas and play a role as an effective hub of knowledge also for source material located on external web sites!
+
-

+
-
On the other hand, Rilpedia does not have the ambition to co-ordinate such which doesn't belong together and which is of no public interest.
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia contributes to Wikipedia
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia aims to reach all people and one could ponder on if that purpose wouldn't easiest be achieved by editing articles at Wikipedia instead of Rilpedia?
+
-

+
-
- And of course it would! Therefore Rilpedia contributors are encouraged to first-hand write articles at Wikipedia! (Our technology will import the work to Rilpedia after a while anyway). In practice our editors will write articles at Rilpedia and copy and paste their article into Wikipedia as well (knowing that if the article is damaged at least the Rilpedia article will remain intact).
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia - a way out
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia is here for those editors which at last give up on Wikipedia where their hard work with compiling facts often is vandalized or refuted (since Wikipedia is open for all one can unfortunately both contribute and vandalize). It is not uncommon that serious work is simply reverted or refused by people which strongly dislike seeing complementary facts compete with one-sided materialistic views.
+
-

+
-
The most common way of working for "Rilpedians" will therefore, because of what's mentioned above, be to insert material in both Wikipedia and Rilpedia at the same time. In this way the editor makes an attempt to concretely contribute to Wikipedia, while at the same time he can be confident that his work and efforts isn't wasted as it will be preserved at least at Rilpedia if it can be motivated in objective discussions at the forums and editorial process at Rilpedia.
+
-

+
-
Rilpedia - many-sided elucidation of reality
+
-

+
-
At Rilpedia we admit that human knowledge is limited. It is not a "hallmark of quality" that our present knowledge is adjusted and even exchanged continuously as we make new findings, a thought which is not uncommon amongst people with a blind faith in science. Instead we admit that humans don't know everything with the certainty which he wishes that he did. Within classical Biblical Christendom this has been claimed for nearly two thousand years, namely that our knowledge is limited (1 Cor 13:9-10), and therefore we at Rilpedia wants to apply a restrained attitude to human knowledge.
+
-

+
-
One way of damping down blind faith in what the modern man thinks he knows, is to give accounts of the most important existing views on the matter, and to show strengths and weaknesses of respective views. Comparison is an important factor in learning and in gaining insights.
+
-

+
-
At Rilpedia we presuppose that all of us, without exceptions, perceive facts from different starting points. This can cause same facts to be interpreted differently by different persons. Facts and for instance scientific observations namely doesn't "speak for them self" what they "mean" or what conclusions must be drawn from them. Instead the conclusions are something we interpret, and the interpretations are often heavily influenced by the world view of the interpreter. Not all admits this being a fact. At Rilpedia we do acknowledge this being a fact.
+
-

+
-
Advantages from comparison
+
-

+
-
It is common that Bible believing Christians have been forced to view reality in two entirely different ways. One of the views is a world where cause and effect is prevailing and which primary cause is the Judeo-Christian God. Another view is a naturalistic world, without God and where the material world, just as full of cause and effect as the world described above, came into existence all by itself - without a cause. Only one of these two mutually exclusive outlooks can be right. A Bible believing Christian can benefit from his training in managing to think in both ways.
+
-

+
-
A Bible believer, which has been inflicted the prerequisites to make a thorough comparison, can based on comparison come to also logical conclusions whether a naturalistic world view can be true. But this is not an equal option for those who don’t have the opportunity to compare. First, one who doesn’t have the opportunity to compare isn't free since she cannot chose. Second, she is being reduced to only a one-sided and perhaps entirely groundless faith.
+
-

+
-
:::Rilpedia aims to provide to new generations a greater opportunity to compare alternative views, which entails an option to chose, which is a prerequisite for freedom. Only the truth can set us free.

The Rilpedia project is in process of starting up (since December 28 2006) and is initially available only in Swedish version. The plan is to open the English and the Finnish version next. The English Rilpedia had in December]] 2006 about 1 551 700 articles and the Swedish Rilpedia currently has just nu NUMBEROFARTICLES articles.
+
-

+

The texts on Rilpedia fall under the copyleft license GNU FDL. This means that every contributor holds the copyright to his own contributions but the GNU FDL guarantee that the content at Rilpedia remains free for distribution.
+
-

+
-
Wikipedia plagiarism?
+
-

+
-
Initially not all "meta articles" has been edited and some imported Meta articles therefore can produce an impression of plagiarism of Wikipedia. Such Meta articles can be found primarily in the namespace "Rilpedia" (which was automatically changed from Wikipedia to Rilpedia). The guidelines for Rilpedia’s practical editorial work will differ significantly from the way it's done at Wikipedia though, and the very basic idea with Rilpedia is to do things a little bit different. Thus it is the very express intent to not plagiarize the editorial concept of Wikipedia.
+
-

+
-
However, we really do value and we do want to publish the many good articles from Wikipedia which we deem holds good standard, or at least are "good enough"!
+
-

+
-
Marking of articles
+
-

+
-
At Rilpedia we often edit articles imported from other sources, and these articles are marked with Rilpedia’s own distinctive mark, for example through the clear marking of the header of the article. Example:
+
-

+
-
rpsv
+
-

+
-
The articles which are entirely Rilpedia's "own" can be distinguished from articles which are essentially based on an external original, but the origins of all articles is always easy to identify through its clear marks. Example of article which is only a modified text based essentially on an external article:
+
-
+
-

+
-
Unchanged articles from Wikipedia, that is, articles which are presented exactly as they were when imported, has the following header:
+
-
+
-

+
-

+
-
In the page header for unchanged Wikipedia articles there is a link to the corresponding original article at Wikipedia. The linked original article provides extensive information about article history and major contributors of the article content (the links doesn't work in the namespace Rilpedia though since the prefix "Wikipedia" is exchanged to "Rilpedia" in the very article name).
