Buckethead, eg. Brian Carroll, född 1969 i Colma, Kalifornien, är en amerikansk gitarrist och kompositör. Som ung tog han gitarrlektioner av Paul Gilbert vilket ganska tydligt kan höras från hans tidigare album innan han hade utvecklat in sin egen spelstil. Han har gett ut ett trettiotal album som soloartist och också gästspelat i många band, bland annat var han gitarrist i Guns N' Roses 2000-2004. Han framträder alltid med en vit mask och en Kentucky Fried Chicken-hink på huvudet, därav namnet.

Han är mycket känd för sina snabba flinka fingrar och brukar använda sig av en "killswitch" när han spelar, vilket ger en karaktäristisk rytmisk "upphackad" effekt (jfr begreppet "sound chopping"). Musikaliskt använder sig Buckethead ofta av kontraster. Enkelhet och komplexitet, skevhet och harmoni är exempel på motsatsbegrepp som ofta har sina givna platser inom en och samma låt. Dystra gitarrteman till enkla och funkiga backbeat-trummor (ofta trummaskin) är också återkommande exempel på kontraster i Bucketheads musik.

Buckethead är både ett artistnamn och koncept. Några väljer att se Buckethead som surrealistisk multikonst bestående av musik, grafik, stiliserad samhällskritik (?) och humor.

Paul Gilbert: "That was great. He was a great student. He was really young. Actually, we were both really young. I think I was about eighteen. He was about fifteen at the time. Of course if you're fifteen, you can't drive, so his Mom used to bring him down to the lessons. He was super fast even then and he wasn't wearing a bucket. He was just a normal kid. I saw him in an airport a couple of years ago. He had super long hair so I didn't recognize him at first. I just figured it was another musician who wants to say hello. As he got closer, I realized he was the kid I used to teach that turned into Buckethead. He was super cool. It was nice to see him."
