Första dagen - Gud skapar universum (materia, tid och rum) ur intet. Ljus och planeten jorden skapas, helt täckt av vatten (se även Skapelsedagarna).

  • första dagen - tidsenheten för dygn bestäms av jordens rotation mot en ljuskälla.
    En ljuskälla fanns (Gud hade redan sagt "varde ljus") även om solen skapades senare. Se även planetrörelser i vers 1 Mos 1:14. Grundtexten talar om vanliga "jordiska" 24-timmars dygn ('yowm').
